Butterflies of Detroit

This booklet contains photos of—and a little information about—24 different butterfly species that are found in Detroit, Michigan. They have been selected because they are both fairly common and often sought after. All of the photos found in this book were taken in Detroit.

We invite you to join us in our parks to observe our beautiful Detroit butterflies! The booklet contains a map indicating the city parks that have established wildflower gardens. These gardens are often the best habitat for butterfly watching. While butterflies can be seen in Detroit from spring until fall, the best time to see the most is a sunny day in June, July, or August.
