Celebrate Earth Day with DPC!
Looking for a way to observe Earth Day? DPC is pleased to feature 5 park cleanups on Saturday, April 23:
Rouge Rescue Earth Day Cleanup: 9 am – noon
Celebrate Earth Day at Rouge Park and give the park a spring cleaning! Volunteers will meet at the Stone Bridge Nature Trail Head at 9am where we will have trash bags, gloves, water, etc. available. Hosted in partnership with Friends of Rouge Park, Detroit River Coalition, and Friends of the Rouge.
Belle Isle Spring Cleanup: 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
Earth Day on Belle Isle is all about enjoying + protecting our natural environment. Pick up a map and collect litter while exploring the park at your own leisure. At the end of the cleanup, please return to the Belle Isle Aquarium to weigh the litter you collected and document the impact made on Belle Isle and along the Detroit River.
Clark Park Cleanup: 10 am – 2 pm
All are welcome for the Clark Park Coalition’s Earth Day cleanup!
Dequindre Cut Spring Cleanup: 10 am – 2 pm
Celebrate Earth Day by removing litter from one of Detroit’s most utilized green spaces: the Dequindre Cut Greenway! This “come all” volunteer event will focus on removing litter from the Dequindre Cut Greenway and surrounding streets. Volunteer for a few focused hours or casually collect litter as you walk. The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy will provide gloves, trash bags, and a limited number of trash pickers and rakes. Once done, tie your bag and leave it along the side of the Cut or street – our cleaning team will pick it up later!
Palmer Park Earth Day Cleanup: 10 am – 3 pm
People for Palmer Park believes in the importance of being good stewards of our planet. Please help us in our efforts to keep the park clean and beautiful for all! Bring a neighbor and a water bottle. Families with young children can join in by signing up for the Aziza Fairy Door Forest Trash & Treasure Hunt. Hundreds of small fairy doors, decorated and installed by neighborhood students, will line the paths through the woods, adding a magical element to the cleanup activities.
