Detroit Pistons, City of Detroit and Detroit Parks Coalition announce 2022 Pistons Neighbors Program

The City of Detroit, Detroit Pistons, and Detroit Parks Coalition are pleased to announce the 2022 Pistons Neighbors Program, providing free outdoor programming for children and families at Detroit’s Chandler Park, Palmer Park, Rouge Park, Pingree Park, and Romanowski Park. Programming will take place on Wednesdays-Sundays from 3-7 pm, from July 6 through September 4, 2022.

The five city parks will host drop-in outdoor activities for all ages, including sports clinics, live music, dance classes, and arts and crafts. Programming, which will be managed by Come Play Detroit, will be provided by local vendors and presented in partnership with community-based park organizations. The Pistons Neighbors Program is funded by the William Davidson Foundation, Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation, and the Detroit Pistons.

Now in its third year, the program affirms the Detroit Pistons’ commitments to Detroit’s parks. An expanded partnership with the newly-formed Detroit Parks Coalition will allow a closer connection to neighborhood park organizations, ensuring that the programming is more relevant to and coordinated with local communities.

Through our partnership with the City of Detroit, William Davidson Foundation, and Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation, we introduced the Pistons Neighbors Program to activate Detroit parks that include newly renovated basketball courts and provide free outdoor activities for families and youth to participate in and enjoy throughout the summer and into the fall.”
